Southern Hands Homestyle Cooking

About us

Founded by Mrs. Betty Baskin and her five children, Southern Hands Homestyle Cooking first opened its doors on August 1, 2008. Known for its heavenly cornbread loaves, Southern Hands has been proudly serving the Memphis area for over a decade.

Born and raised in a small town in Mississippi, Mrs. Baskin learned to cook at an early age. Over the years she became known for her ability to make incredibly delicious food using the simplest of ingredients. When asked how she made her food taste so good, she'd simply reply " it's all in the hands". Mrs. Baskin would say "we serve the best food this side of Heaven". She frequently visited every location daily to ensure the best quality of food and customer service. Sadly Mrs. Baskin passed away in May 2018 leaving her children to carry on her legacy. Since then, Southern Hands has grown to 5 locations becoming memphis' only soulfood restaurant chain.

We invite you and your family to come and discover what so many others already have, that the best food this side of Heaven can only be made by Southern Hands!
